My "Little Red Truck"

As promised (with mediocre photography), here she is.

When they named this color "Red Hot", they weren't kidding.

It's RED!  Like Fire Truck red, but redder.

Took it out today to run some errands, pick up stuff from Home Depot, and took a longer way home than I usually do.

It runs great, rides nice, has good power and great brakes, now has 220 miles on it, and I'm learning and customizing all the different screens on the "Infotainment" and Navigation systems.

  1. Sweeeet! Looks good in the driveway too.

Have many happy and safe miles with her.

  4. Knowing where you and SLW often drive, please get a stout grill guard that will take a deer hit. Many one car roll over accidents are caused by trying to swerve and miss a deer. Ask any State Patrolman or County Deputy. That said, what a sweet ride!

    1. We'll look in to it. The places I'm checking out for the bedliner and tonneau have those also.

      LOTS of 4x4/off-road specialists here!

  5. When my youngest was little, he used to say "Red goes faster". Watch out for speed traps, if there are any there.
A really nice looking truck. Congratulations!

    1. Heh...Kids say the darndest things!

I've the Colorado Highway Patrol and the Wyoming Highway Patrol doing "Radar Picket Duty" along the I-25 here, and I've seen the Larimer County Sheriff and the Weld County Sheriff doing the same things.

If I "speed", it's almost always confined to the "5 Over" category.

  6. Congratulations, may you have many, many, trouble free miles in it.

  7. Our last two pickups were red, welcome aboard and good luck!

We are still working our way through understanding the bewildering amount of electronics in our new Subaru.

    1. The last pick-up I had was also red, a 1972 El Camino SS with the 396/402 engine.

Nice truck, but terrible to drive in snow. Got stuck in a driveway once, and it took three of us to get it loose.

    2. The poor snow performance of our last two wheel drive pickup truck led directly to our first small SUV and we haven't owned a pickup since '06.

    3. I used to carry several 50lb bags of sand in the bed after I got stuck in my friend's driveway. It helped some, but.....

This new one is 4WD, a must for out here in the Rockies.

    4. Yes. Sand, and the same small improvement.

My first serious use of the new to me AWD was driving home from work after a heavy snowfall. Not very long after that we got rid of the front wheel drive sedan in favor of another small SUV.

  8. American trucks are nice when new. Once you hit 100,000 miles, get rid of it, after that it will suck you dry with never ending repairs.

    1. Considering we'll only put about 5,000 miles per year on it, I don't think we have too much to worry about.....

  9. Fredd...not so. I had a Chevy S10 with over 200K on it when I traded it in on my Colorado. In 17 years I replaced 1 rear main seal...that was the extent of the serious maintenance.

  10. Ripcord: there is debate as to whether a Chevy S10 is actually a 'truck.' You know, a manly truck.

    1. Thank you for qualifying "truck", Fredd.

Little trucks are quite useful for a lot of people. Not everybody needs to haul hay bales or 1100 pounds of gravel....

    2. You're welcome. Glad to help out. Let me know if you ever need some additional help with qualifying stuff.

  11. Congrats!

Have to get a new one myself -- thinking an=bout a fleet 4x4 150. Hmmmm.

    1. Thank you, Parson. It's turning out to be a very nice truck so far. Yes, I miss my Jeep, but this should be OK for us.

It will be interesting to see how well it operates in the snow.

Keep it civil, please....

Gloomy, Gritty, Grey Day

At 1700 local it's as described in the headline; 30*F, 88% RH, completely overcast, snowing like crazy (small flakes, but lots of them)...
