Negotiations Successful!!

Well, it's a done deal.

I didn't remember that SLW said we were meeting the salesman at 1400, so I got there 30 minutes late.

D'OH!

It turned out for the best, as she'd already hammered the guy down to $500 more than what we had decided was a "Fair Price" based on what other dealers were advertising for a very similar, but not this *exact*, truck.

And then they gave us $700 more than what I wanted for my Jeep, so it's a wash AFAIC.

After running our credit, we qualified for a better rate than what they normally offered to "Qualified Buyers", and even without playing any finance games "To get that monthly payment down to where we can get you in this car today!", the monthly payment wound up being about $75 less than what SLW had calculated, and she's really good at this stuff.

So, we pick this up tomorrow....

And say good-bye to my beloved Jeep.

Yes, I Haz The Sads......

She's been an excellent vehicle, never letting me down, and never costing any more than routine maintenance, gas, tires, and the upgrades I did to the "Infotainment" system.

As the appraiser was walking back in after his test drive, he said "Nice Jeep". I'd imagine it'll go to auction, or maybe somebody who works there will buy it.

    1. Thank you, sir!

Any deal has the possibility of being "better", but the dealership was very low-key, no pressure at all. He showed us "Dealer Invoice", and explained everything to our satisfaction.

The wild card was the Jeep, but that worked to our satisfaction, too.

The "icing" was the lower finance rate, and it's a simple interest loan, not a compound interest one.

    1. Thanks, Bob. We're planning on having some fun with it. Who knows, maybe I can convince my SLW to go camping!

    2. I dunno about camping unless you pull a trailer. Our old bones can't stand anything less than our Motorhome or a good trailer out there.

    3. Yeah, probably should have put some emphasis on the maybe!

  4. Excellent. May I say you and SLW earned a good deal by putting in some effort! A vehicle is usually the second largest purchase people make, and many put in no more effort ahead of time than they do on their weekly grocery shopping.

    1. I think we did OK. She showed me the price he started with, and the steps she went through it getting it down to what we were comfortable with.

Don't know if it made much difference to the trade-in value, but I cleaned up the interior over the weekend, and got it washed today. I also got the oil changed because it really needed it, and we weren't sure if we were going to trade it until we saw the offer.

The lower than anticipated finance rate was a very pleasant outcome.

  6. Good luck, and I suggest sprinkling a few drops of adult beverage across the bow just before your first cruise.

    1. HAH! I'll tell SLW. She has a bottle of Muscato she's been saving, although since it's pick-up truck, beer might be more appropriate....

  7. Trading a Jeep for a pickup truck. Welcome to the Man Club. We'll show you the secret handshake at the next meeting.

    1. It's not my first "pick-up" truck. I had a '72 El Camino SS for a couple of years until it started rusting really bad.

Still need to learn the handshake, though.....

  8. Thanks! My son has several friends with V6 Colorados (Coloradoes?), and he says they love them.

Didn't get to pick it up today. It's about a 4-hour round trip to Colorado Springs, and then they have to check it out clean it for us. They called today and said it would be here, but wouldn't be ready until tomorrow. We'll go get it Wednesday after TLG goes back home.

Now I have to shop for spray-in bedliner and a tonneau!

Been working on this post since right after Thanksgiving. I'm making very good progress on the Fisher, and will most likely power it up...
