Well, all the neighborhood kiddies are back in school, and CSU had the first football game of the year.
Yeah, they lost. 52 to 31. I was listening to it a bit on the radio, and at 3 or 4 minutes into the 3rd quarter when it was 31-28 in favor of the other team, and the Rams QB had a receiver *WIDE OPEN*, and overthrew the ball by about 10 yards.....
I figured they'd never recover, and was right.
Oh well....I'm not a big sports fan, but it would be nice to see the 'hometown team' win one.
I'm a Cubs fan, so losing games is no big thing to me.....
And the community pool has now closed for the year. It's a nice pool, clean, well-maintained, and a good place for all the young families here to take their kids.
There were two house for sale about a block from here, and they both sold relatively fast for here, i.e., less than 30 days on the market. Nice places, well-kept, and "properly priced" for sale. I noticed a U-Haul truck and trailer there unloading things the other day, so I figured it was the new owners. Looked like a young couple, which is typical for here as the original owners of a lot of houses here are selling and down-sizing.
WELL.....They had a party the other night, and by 2145 it was obvious that nobody over there was feeling any pain.
By 2200 they were getting louder, and around 2215 I was starting to wonder about a non-emergency number for the local PD.
About 2220 I stepped out the back door to take a gander at what was going on as it was starting to get LOUD, and low and behold......Red and Blue Flashing Lights! The PD was there, and it took about 15 minutes for things to shut down, and all the people leave. No idea if they were waiting around the corner to hand out DUI tickets for those leaving.
And it's our second day of "record breaking" temperatures. It hit and held 100* for a couple of hours today, and as of 1630 it's down to 94*. The humidity was down around 8%, but it's coming up a bit as things cool off. Supposed to be a mild cold front moving through Tuesday night, which should break this current round of unseasonably warm weather.
Admiral Yamamoto infamously said "You cannot invade the mainland United States. There would be a man with a rifle behind every blade of grass."
And so it should be, a nation of riflemen....

Thinking about getting some more 22LR for my little Marlin semi-auto. I already have a good stock of 22LR, but they're all Wolf and Fio...
At 0400 I running the heater in my car. At 0930 the a/c. Fall in Colorado. Labor Day, 1961, it snowed in Denver.
ReplyDeleteThis will be our second Fall here, as we missed a lot of the 'first' one because we didn't close on the house until 31 Oct, and started moving in 1 Nov.
ReplyDeleteThe first time we drove out here in July 2012, I remember seeing 30* temps up in the mountains coming through Vail, ans snow in the mountains.
Quite a Surprise for an Illinois/Kalifornia guy!
I don't know what the law is where you live. In Texas there is no such thing as a ticket for DWI. Arrest yes. Ticket no.
ReplyDeleteThey take you away here and impound the car. I just said "ticket" out of habit.....
DeleteFall is about to hit, but summer's taking one last swing for the fences. Sounds like the new neighbors 'might' be a problem.
ReplyDeleteThey won't be if they Get Smart real fast!
DeleteThis neighborhood is as quiet as a tomb at night. They loudest 'people noises' come from the softball fields about 1/2 mile from here, and they shutdown around sundown.
As a 21-year old soldier stationed in southern West Germany in 1976, it snowed briefly on Aug 14. No, it didn't stick, but the flakes were coming down. August 14th, 1976; I remember it like it was yesterday.
