Batten Down the Hatches!

Got some heavy weather coming in Tuesday night, with rain and snow, turning to all snow Wednesday morning.

New accumulation predicted to be between 4" and 8", and the NWS is getting ready to release a "Blizzard Warning" for the Eastern Plains of Colorado.

I would suspect Nebraska and Kansas will get clobbered, too.

As long as it's not wet snow, I should be able to use the ^^&%^#% snowblower to clear it off now that I've have it fairly well adjusted and know where to soak it with silicone spray so it won't clog. Still hate the damn thing, though.....

So anyway....I'm making a run to DIA tomorrow, as the wife is headed back to SoCal for her oldest son's birthday, a visit to the Iowa to see the new "Lost at Sea" exhibit, and to see her friends again and have a Girls Night Out.

While she's gone I'm knocking a few Honey Dews off the list, like a new faucet/sprayer  assembly for the kitchen sink, a new little "Bar Sink" to replace the one that has a water leak that caused the porcelain to be stained and damaged, and replacing the wall mounting hardware for some of the towel racks and TP dispensers that are (still!) loose on the walls.

Brought in some more firewood, and the dog and I are planning on watching some movies while my sweetie is out of town. The fridge, freezer, and pantry are well-stocked with 'cold weather' food like soups and stews, and I'm planning on trying Larkburger after the snow moves through.

Keep warm and dry, my friends!

  1. Sorry to hear you are still getting hammered. I think we finally turned the corner out here. It has been a very strange Winter and I'm glad it's almost over.
    Stay safe pard.

    1. This storm should put us over the top for March, our usual snowiest month. "Normal" is 12", and this should put us at 12"~16".

      Yep.....ready for Spring!

  2. The whole West seems to be in the grip of what I hope will be the last blizzard of the season. I was supposed to leave for work, but the weather beat my ride so I'm here in the house. I cut some wood so there's enough fire to keep the place cozy. Stay safe, my friend.

    1. It's 56* and dry outside right now at 1253. Rain turning to snow is expected to start around 2100 tonight, so hopefully it's be a milk run to DIA and back.

      No chopper ride?

  3. Have a run this morning including Boulder and Denver but should beat the storm. After that I'll hunker down for a couple of days. Sure glad I'm not doing the courier route to Scottsbluff!

  4. Both my boys worked at Larkburger. The oldest became asst manager, and bounced around between Westminster and Broomfield until he finally left. I've eaten there too. The food wasn't bad, and reasonably priced, although seemingly small portions. Stay dry. You could see snow well into May yet.

    1. I have Larkburger and Good Times left to try. I really like Freddie's, but it's a 40 minute round trip, so we only go there to sit down and have the burgers.

"Vern's Place" is still the best IMO, but my wife doesn't care for the place. Must be the deer and fish mounted on the walls starting down at her!

We'll definitely have snow in the foothills here in May, but nothing "down here".

  6. We have been getting rain and occasional snow flurries between days of sun. I'm loving it!
And I've been invited up to the BIL & SIL's river house on the Columbia to go walleye fish'n this weekend, YeeHaw!

  7. YOW, Brig! Walleyes are fine fightin' and eatin' fish! My Dad would take me up to Wisconsin when I was a wee lad to go walleye fishing. First one I caught was quite a fight, but worth it at dinner.

The only other freshwater fish I seriously sought was the Muskie. I never caught another fish that fought so hard until I hooked a 36" barracuda, and when I git it out of the water it reminded me of a Muskie.

  8. I brought the laptop home from work and will be dialing in Wednesday. Picked up some needed foodstuffs. And plugged the LMTV block heater in so I can help stranded motorists. I'm not looking forward to the heavy winds in the camper.
BUT - have a pending job in Nevada! Love Colorado Springs, hate the politics. Dunno if Nevada will be better, but new job will allow moving options after a few years.
    Stay safe and warm!

Keep it civil, please....

Gloomy, Gritty, Grey Day

At 1700 local it's as described in the headline; 30*F, 88% RH, completely overcast, snowing like crazy (small flakes, but lots of them)...
