It's with a very heavy heart that I have to report that our beloved dog and faithful friend Pebbles quietly passed away today at 1745 local time. She was surrounded by her family and the Veterinary Staff.
She was born eleven and a half years ago in Long Beach, CA, and had a very unique personality. She loved people, was very friendly, fiercely protective of us, and a trusted companion.
I took a couple of pictures of her today, but I'd much rather remember her with this one.
So long, my friend. I hope and pray our paths will cross again, and we can resume our journey.
Condolences to you all. God bless.
ReplyDeleteThank you. Linda.
DeleteSo sorry for your loss. We share your pain.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Bob. I still remember Bear!
DeleteMy sincere condolences. Our four legged family is still family. I've received much more love over the years from my dogs than I have from people.
ReplyDeleteThanks, FF. I, too, have learned much from dogs, and received unconditional love from them. She'll be greatly missed.
DeleteIt's one of the hardest things to do, that being the right thing. Such a pretty puppy. But she'll live on in your hearts and heads.
ReplyDeleteWe're all here for you.
Thanks, Beans. She was very good dog. We were blessed with her for 11 years. I guess God needed another Pit Bull....
DeleteI'm so very sorry. What a beautiful girl. Remember the good times. Big hugs.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Jules.
DeleteA loss. I remember her at Christmas dinner quietly keeping an eye on everything without being intrusive. It speaks to your and SLW's character that you loved her and properly cared for her to the end.
ReplyDeleteThe first Christmas we had her leashed to an eye bolt I put in the laundry room. The leash was long enough that she could be a part of things, but not so long she could trip people with it.
DeleteI can't find words. There are no words. So sorry to hear that.
ReplyDeleteThank you, SiG. She's greatly missed.
DeleteThe pain of losing a long time member of the family is very real. No matter how many appendages that they may have. Pebbles was such a gentle lady & I enjoyed our short times together.
ReplyDeleteShe loved people, and was very protective of the little ones. You could see her demeanor shift when we had the kids over; always wathing them, and looking out the window.
DeleteThe passing of a pet is among the most difficult burdens to bear. Our pets are too good for us and we seldom deserve their love and loyalty. Fortunately for us they are unaware of this fact.
ReplyDeleteYour last sentence says it all.....
DeleteMy condolences to you, DrJim, and SLW. It is painful and leaves a big hole in the heart. Their love is unconditional and an example for us.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Bill. They sure do dig their way into our hearts.
DeleteCondolences, and know she'll be waiting on you at the Rainbow Bridge.
ReplyDeleteThanks, NFO. Even the vet said that when he dies, he'll only go to Heaven if they allow dogs and cats.....
DeletePebbles-the-Wonder Dog had a good life and she was loved. What more can a dog want than that? That's the problem with dogs. We almost always outlive them. And if we die before them, they want to die with us.
ReplyDeleteThanks, LL. You and Well Seasoned Fool are the only fellow bloggers who met her. Since she liked you both, it put you two way up on the "A-List" with me. She was a good dog. She'll be hard to replace....
DeleteSome words that might help...

Thanks, Beaner. It gives a nice sense of closure.
