Looks like a Big One coming in. I-70 is already closed, and parts of I-25, North and South of here, are likely to be closed.
So far, we've received a little over 1/8" of rain, and the rain stopped about 2130 local. It's 2250 now, and the back patio is sloooowly drying.
The worst of it will be South of here, with Denver getting clobbered, and some places in the Rocky Mountain Nat'l Forest, and the Front Range, are expected to get up to 48" of snow. We're forecast at 3~6", but we'll see.
The Weather Radar from Cheyenne gives a good picture.
So stay warm and dry, stay off the roads, and if you have to be out in this weather, you have my sympathy. I've worked outdoors in this stuff, and it ain't pleasant.
We know that you've got this , DrJim. Hang in there. Prayers as usual.
ReplyDeleteIt'll be much worse South of us, towards Denver. They might get 18".
DeleteGot your snowblower lubed and warmed up?
ReplyDeleteStay toasty, my friend.
Changed the oil in the Spring, and ran it a few times during the year. Should be Good To Go!
DeleteSisty is in Reno with her daughter for a week. She was scheduled to leave today but wisely left yesterday. News has over 800 flights delayed/cancelled at DIA. Tomorrow I have an assignment in extreme NE Colorado (Peetz) but may waiting until Saturday if the weather pattern shifts away from the Front Range.
ReplyDeleteSnowing now but not sticking as the temperature is above freezing.
Most of what came down last night has melted, although it's starting to stick now. Estes Park, and Red Feather Lakes have really gotten clobbered, though. 24"+ in Estes, and 36"+ in RFL.
DeleteThe front range wouldn't be the front range without at least one March winter storm.
ReplyDeleteAnd broken tree limbs leading to downed power lines.....
DeleteOne Spring we came out here, and the National Guard was out removing tree limbs and such.
Ah yes, March... Blowing hot, cold, freezing, snowing, raining... all in the same day!
ReplyDeleteIt's our "Four Seasons in 24 Hours" special deal!
DeleteOne cold December 23rd, 1989, it went from light rain at 79 degrees around noon to heavy rain and 19 degrees by 6pm. So cold that the water on the roads froze and you could hear cars on I-75 sliding and crashing from a mile away.
DeleteWeather definitely happens...
A couple of years ago it went from 85* in the afternoon, to 19* by sunrise. My banged up knees made it very clear that they didn't like the weather to change that much, that fast.
DeleteSo far we've got maybe 3~4", and that's in the spots it always gets deepest.
