I suppose with all the "Multi-Spectral" sensors out there these days, it doesn't matter much what time of day you do your mapping flights.
This is the first time I've seen one after sundown, though,
Admiral Yamamoto infamously said "You cannot invade the mainland United States. There would be a man with a rifle behind every blade of grass."
And so it should be, a nation of riflemen....
Been working on this post since right after Thanksgiving. I'm making very good progress on the Fisher, and will most likely power it up...
Are these calibration flights?
ReplyDeleteThis is a civilian aircraft being flown by "XYZ Mapping Services" or a similar name.
DeleteWith all the development going on here they're probably just aerial surveys.
As sloppy as that track is, I'm guessing it's a training flight for a new pilot.
ReplyDeleteIt's definitely not the clean tracks I've seen before. Maybe they were testing a new payload and weren't too concerned about neatness.
DeleteNo, if they were payload testing, the accuracy would have been there. Just sayin...
ReplyDeleteYou're most likely correct, but I thought they'd do training flights during daylight.
DeleteIt's all suspicious...
ReplyDeleteAt the very least, it's "Interesting" to nerds like me....
