Snow In The Forecast.....Already??

Just checked the weather for the coming weekend, and I see the NWS is calling for snow on Tuesday, with a high of 43*F.

Tuesday night is forecast to have a low of 30*F. The Average low is 48*F, and the record is 18*F, so while "Unseasonably Cold" could be said, it won't break a record.

But SNOW?

I know WSF has been snowed on in every single month here, but if we get some snow, it'll be a first for us here. Local wisdom is we always have at least one snow before Halloween, so I'll ask the clan about September Snow at our Labor Day gathering on Sunday.

Must be Global Warming.....

  1. Rarely happens below 8,000' ASL during the summer but fall is always chancy.

    1. The clan's homestead is up about 7500'. Wonder if they'll see flurries?

    2. We're having a get together on Sunday. I'll have to ask them when the earliest snow that stuck around happened. The snows we've received "Before Halloween" have never lasted on the ground more than 48 hrs.....

  2. Sooooo... How's the replacement snow blower project coming along? Identified a target yet or are you going to wait for the season?

    1. Still looking for a Honda, but Plan B is to just buy the Ariens "DeLuxe 24" and be done with it. Even if we get several inches on Tuesday, the ground and streets are still warm, and it would be gone the next day.

  3. Oh no, there's a light bulb over my head!

As a backup, have you checked out what it will cost to have snow removal done?

And I wonder if your new truck is snowplow capable?
And if there's such a thing as a very light duty snowplow?

    1. Our lawn service does it, but we've never checked the cost. I can run the blower and clean the driveway and sidewalks no problem. The electric blower I just got rid of had less endurance than I did, which was really aggravating.

  4. To paraphrase John Lennon, snow is what happens while you're busy making other plans. It's 39° here this morning, and leaves have been falling for a month already.

    1. We're just now starting to see a few trees getting ready to turn, and some others are dropping a few leaves.

Tuesday night is forecast to get down to ~25*, and we received a "freeze warning" from the city.

The Lowe's down in Loveland has two Ariens DeLuxe 24 blowers in stock. I'll probably head down there next week and get one, unless a lightly used Honda 24" shows up over the weekend.

    1. Ain't nothin', buddy! Even if we got 6" overnight it would be gone the next day. The ground is pretty warm yet.

Keep it civil, please....

Gloomy, Gritty, Grey Day

At 1700 local it's as described in the headline; 30*F, 88% RH, completely overcast, snowing like crazy (small flakes, but lots of them)...
