Yow....it's Seventy-Two Degrees here today! Strong winds from the SW, averaging 10MPH with gusts to around 30MPH. It's a beautiful day, and even with the wind, it feels warm. Pebbles did her first session of roll-around-in-the-yard for the year, coming back in the house pretty well covered in dead grass and leaves! Took a few minutes to brush her off, but it was fun watching her enjoy this little bit of "Spring Preview". And she even ignored all the squirrels running along the top of the fence between their tree, and the front of our house where the maple tree still has a bountiful crop of seeds. Guess the squirrels are stocking up for the next few days.
BUT.....the temps are going to start dropping tonight, and rain turning to snow is expected on Monday with a high of 24*. Snow accumulation of 1"~3" is expected during the day, with another 2"~4" predicted overnight.
Monday night will drop into the single-digits, and Tuesday night is expected to get down to about -2*.
TLG will be staying here Tuesday/Wednesday, so I forecast lots of game-playing, R/C Car Action down in the den, and a nice fire going later in the day. I have a bunch of crab apple wood that came from some large branches that broke off the tree last year, and they dried out very nicely over the summer before I cut them up and stacked them. I don't know if crab apple wood burns well, but I'll try some small pieces to see how it works.
Been kind of off-line the last few days. Having some problems with my right hip acting up, and I'm not getting much sleep at night. So, I'll call my Doctor's office tomorrow and see if she has time to see me. Otherwise, I'll be headed down to the urgent care clinic. Something's not quite right, and I need to tend to it.
Enjoy the rest of your weekend, and no, I'm not watching the Stupid Bowl.....
Admiral Yamamoto infamously said "You cannot invade the mainland United States. There would be a man with a rifle behind every blade of grass."
And so it should be, a nation of riflemen....

Every so often when I'm checking my PiAware ADSB receiver/display I'll notice an aircraft with a flight path that catches my eye. I...
Been grey and rainy here, but there's some blue sky today, Yay! Have fun with TLG.
ReplyDeleteTake care and I sure hope the hip is just minor.
Back to painting the spare bedroom. Geez, I'm getting slower at this...
It's an old work injury that flared up about a week ago. I can belt down 600mg of Ibuprofen and it just takes the edge off. Something going on, and I don't like it.
DeleteColorado weather. As my late grandfather would say, "I don't care if you go naked, take all the clothes you have".
ReplyDeleteThe "Layered Look" originated out here in the West, I think.
DeleteWe felt the temps drop. And I have some old hand injuries, earned in the line of duty, that remind me that cold is coming. A little Blue Emu helps. Anyway, there was snow predicted in AZ but it is not just wind and some sleet with no accumulation. Same for next week. It should be quite warm next weekend before it gets cold.
ReplyDeleteI realize that chatting about the weather seems trite, but there are things these days that I won't do in bad weather. You can call it a wimp factor if you must.
Yep. The winters here aren't as "bad" as the ones I had growing up, but there's times we just stay home.
DeleteDown here near Bandera, TX, the weather prognosticators are saying this system will bring us 81 degrees Tuesday and maybe even snow by late Wednesday night. Winter in South Texas can be crazy!
ReplyDeleteBandera is Central Texas, Alice is south Texas. McAllen is south Texas.
DeleteSnow? I doubt it. It will be cold Wednesday morn for sure.
I'll leave the Texas weather to those who know it better than I do! I've been in Texas many times (DFW area), but I've never lived there.
DeleteHips: my wife had both of hers replaced, the first one when she was 50. I have a friend who had both of his replaced when he was about 40. I think I'm working on needing one, but it's still functional. It only hurts when I sleep on that side.
ReplyDeleteI read your comment about it being 72, and here in mid Florida, the high was about 65. Of course, we never get temperature swings like BillB talks about.
Just got back from the Doctor's office. She thinks it's a soft-tissue flare up, but I'm getting some X-Rays taken this afternoon so she can rule out any bone problems. Then we'll schedule an MRI, and go from there.
ReplyDeleteWe've had one really wild temp swing since we moved here. I think it dropped something like 60 degrees in several hours.
We were at 72 yesterday, and it's 19 outside now, so that's another big swing for us that I just noticed.
Going to be 6 degrees tonight, and MINUS 6 degrees Tuesday night.
BRRRR!
And we're supposed to get it Wednesday...
ReplyDeleteYou'll probably get rain, though, won't you?
DeleteIt is quite a bitch getting old and decrepit. But what fun we had getting here. Now, I am ignorant, who is TLG? The game playing sounds like fun. I live in the wilds of Eastern South Dakota and the cold and snow and blowing wind keeps me in doors.
ReplyDeleteTLG = The Little Guy, our grandson.
DeleteSLW = Sweet Little Wife
Which reminds me.....I have to go make ready the fireplace!
