DOHC, 4 valves-per-cylinder, Flat Plane Crankshaft, 8600RPM redline, and Six-Hundred Seventy Horsepower from 333 Cubic Inches........astounding.
No superchargers or turbochargers; This is pure, Naturally Aspirated, RPM-driven, Horsepower.
Read all about it here in Don Sherman's great article.
Shades of the SB2 motors...
ReplyDeleteFar more sophisticated, and more streetable.
DeleteGood points on the sophistication and streetability, but the SB2's were developing 700+hp and revving to 9000rpm for a number of years in NASCAR. And they were 'streetable' for versions of that...LOL
DeleteOh, yeah, the NASCAR motors were something to behold. VERY durable, lots of midrange, and a whole big bag of HP on the top end.
DeletePretty good for a carburated engine.
It's a screamer....
ReplyDeleteWow! Wouldn't mind putting that in my 2000 Chevy C3500 for towing! It would do the trick and climb the Rockies with a big trailer and do it in the passing lanes...
ReplyDeleteI stole this with glee and posted it in Bustednuckles...
I suspect we'll see them available as crate engines....
DeleteHow long ya think before somebody tries to put a turbo on it?
ReplyDeleteChevy's going to do that for the "Zora" or "ZR-1" model. Supposed to have something like 850HP....
