Sea Launch Back In Limbo

And apparently the owner regrets moving the ships to Russia.

He said he was promised it would be "no more" to berth the ships there compared to Long Beach, when in reality it's costing him twice as much....

And there's no suitable launch vehicle until maybe the "middle of the decade".

Interesting, and so very sad.

  1. What? He actually trusted the Russians? Foolish mortal.

Totally sucks about them. Such a neat concept. Would have been interesting if SpaceX had used them.

    1. Musk came to the Sea Launch facilities several times. He was considering renting part of the Payload Preparation Facility so SpaceX could defuel their boosters and crew capsules launched from Vandenberg AFB and get them ready for transport.

    1. Yeah, the funny thing was I was about a week from giving them notice when they started talking layoffs, so I just sat down, folded my hands, and waited to get my 6 months of "unemployment"!
