Little Noah Finally Goes Home!

YAY!

The natal ICU was happy with his progress, and he hasn't had any "incidents" in a long enough time to be released, so the kids brought him home Tuesday.

Here's the happy Mom with the doggie nannies in attendance:

And here's a short video of the little guy snuggled in his car seat on the way home.

We're headed out there next week to spend a week with the kids and Noah, and do some house hunting.

My wife has TWENTY DAYS of work remaining before she retires.

  2. How wonderful!! There is very little than can beat the cuddling with a new grandbaby. And congrats to your wife on her upcoming retirement. I'll bet you both will enjoy it as much as I do. :)

  3. That's all such very good news, DRJIM. Once your wife pulls the pin, you're Colorado bound, right?

    1. Yeah, baby!

We're out of here this summer for sure! Just talked to a "handyman" service about getting some work done here. They also do landscaping, and can do the "free" Kalifornia low-maintenance/low-water rip out and replace of the front yard. The state will pay up to something like $3k to remove the grass and install a new front yard.

We're headed out to Colorado on the 18th for a week, and besides seeing the little one, we'll be doing some serious house hunting!

  4. Congratulations to all! It's truly wonderful what they can do in those NIC units.

Those dogs are looking like they're in protection mode already and are just a bit suspicious of the photographer.

    1. Truly amazing, isn't it? When I was born, if you were 10 weeks premature your chance of survival weren't very good.

He's tripled his birth weight, takes an entire bottle on his own, and no longer needs any supplemental Oxygen. They still have him on an O2 monitor, and the kids have an emergency bottle of O2 at the house "just in case". If the monitor goes off, they put him on O2 and call the hospital neonatal unit who'll decide if they need to bring him in or not.

The dogs have been extremely curious about this new little interloper. His Mom was bringing home his blankets and worn clothing so the dogs could pick up on his scent, and she said as soon as they smelled him the first time all three tails started wagging!

And knowing those three dogs very well (they were her in SoCal from pups until the kids moved), God help whoever tries to hurt the little guy!

Keep it civil, please....

Gloomy, Gritty, Grey Day

At 1700 local it's as described in the headline; 30*F, 88% RH, completely overcast, snowing like crazy (small flakes, but lots of them)...
