He's a fighter!
Yesterday he ripped out his breathing tube, so they put him on a nose rig to supply him with O2, and they're closely watching his blood gases.
He's gained 5.5 ounces, and is doing better than expected.
His Mom came home from the hospital, and will be off work for a while while she heals up, but Mom and Dad have been going to see the little guy daily.
This is the most recent photo I have, taken right before he ripped his tube out.
His Mom just posted a "today" photo:
Admiral Yamamoto infamously said "You cannot invade the mainland United States. There would be a man with a rifle behind every blade of grass."
And so it should be, a nation of riflemen....

Thinking about getting some more 22LR for my little Marlin semi-auto. I already have a good stock of 22LR, but they're all Wolf and Fio...
Great news.
ReplyDeleteHe's got a lot of Grandpa in him!!!
ReplyDeleteThat is blessed news indeed.
ReplyDeleteGo, Noah! May he continue to grow and be strengthened.
ReplyDeleteRev. Paul says it better than I can. Continuing prayers for Noah and his family.
ReplyDeleteThank you all, my friends.
ReplyDeleteShe also posted a pic of one his itty-bitty "premie" diapers, and it was about twice the size of a Chapstick!
Still haven't heard how long he'll be in baby ICU, and as I have zero experience with this, I'm clueless.....
He's a fighter alright, even got his fist balled up there!
ReplyDeleteSaying a prayer for everyone involved.
Congrats .
Hang in Dr. Jim!!! My youngest was 2 lbs. 1 oz. some 24 years ago. Getting married in two months. It'll be a long haul, due to lung immaturity, but keep up the fight. Loving and touching means all the world to that little one.
ReplyDeleteHis Mom got to hold him and nurse him a bit today. He was strong enough to take out of his little environmentally-controlled enclosure so she could do that.
DeleteVery touching picture was sent by his Proud Papa, but I won't post it here, as my daughter-in-law would scalp me if it wound up online!
NICU nurses, even back then told us that touching, talking, holding meant all the world to the progress of these precious preemies. We made it a habit to hold, touch and care for all the young ones in the NICU, as some parents, grandparents showed up very infrequently. I'm sure this one will be fawned over.
ReplyDeleteYes it does. It teaches them many, many things.
DeleteHis Mom got some more cuddle-and-nurse time today, and little Noah is responding very well. Hopefully his Daddy will get to hold him for a while today....
That's good news!
ReplyDeleteYou betcha!
DeleteHe IS Beautiful!!!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Miss Lisa!
DeleteMy sweet little wife is going to get to hold him next week. She's headed to Colorado for what was going to be the baby shower.
It still is, but the baby came early.
The fact he is gaining weight is encouraging. Prayers sent for you and yours.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Ex!
DeleteMy wife is flying out Friday morning to go meet him.
She's ecstatic about it!
