Quiet Day, 2" of Snow, Not Much Going On.....

The snow had pretty much stopped by 0600 or so. The snow rake Well Seasoned Fool told me about worked just great on the car. It would have been nice to have after that big snow we had a few weeks ago, but now I have it for the next big snow:

Well worth the $40 I paid for it. The 48" hardwood handle makes getting all the snow off the glass a breeze, and it gets the snow off the roof above the doors so you don't get dumped on when you open the door.

And don't even bother to ask about that POS snowblower.....now the auger motor won't turn on when you squeeze the switch on the handle. Got the sidewalk cleared, but then it took a dump doing the driveway. It's never acted right, and now it doesn't even click when you squeeze the handle.

And we now have this brute getting ready to be put in service:

The attachments and bowl are in the dishwasher (Dishwasher Safe!), and as soon as we finish the last loaf from the second Great Bread Experiment I'll be making some regular white bread to see how it works.

And from my son back in Kommiefornia, I present you the Best Mouse Pad EVER:

It's huge, and has a world map with time zones printed on it.

It's almost too big to fit on my operating desk here in the sun room, so I might have to rearrange the equipment on the desk to use it.

  1. I like that snow scraper. Where did you buy it?

  2. WSF sent me a link to "Sid Savage", who sells auto dealer specialty items.

Well worth the money. It's a semi-rigid foam head with a polyurethane "skin" on it. Good, solid handle with plenty of reach.

  3. I'm down to one snow rake. It is ten years old so I may have my money's worth in use.

    1. They look pretty well made, and as long as I don't bang up, chew up, or otherwise damage the foam blade, mine should outlast me.....

  4. Looks like the same model mixer as I have. Nice power. Easy to clean. The whisk attachment really creams eggs and oils well. You'll enjoy it.

As to the snowblower, not too late to get that Ariens dropshipped to your door. Only 3 more months of the ugly white stuff for you... if not a month or two more...

    1. Don't count on it. I've been in snow every month of the year in this state over the years.

    2. @Beans - I've never owned an appliance quite like this one. It not only spins the attachments in the bowl, but they "orbit" around the bowl to scrape the sides and keep all your fixin's in the mix. We've got some decent weather the next week, so I'm going to take the squeeze grip apart and see if I can fix what doesn't work. I'll sputter and pop along with this thing until later in the year when the snowblowers go on clearance sale....

@WSF - Yep, I'm told it can snow here when you least expect it, like Mother's Day!

  5. Sorry to hear about the snow blower. Get a good one! And that mixer looks like it will last a LONG time!

    1. I'll look into the why the auger quit working. Might be just a misadjusted switch or loose connection where they plug together.

Hopefully the mixer is built better than the snowblower!

  7. I've seen those things, Brig, but we don't have any kind of stove we could use it with.

Keep it civil, please....

Gloomy, Gritty, Grey Day

At 1700 local it's as described in the headline; 30*F, 88% RH, completely overcast, snowing like crazy (small flakes, but lots of them)...
