As a teenager, reading about him had me working on being an amateur magician. I've still got some of those old "tricks" around.
He was something else, never to be bettered... Copperfield et al may have neater shows, but they have a cast of thousands to support them...
I never had the patience or fleet fingers to do magic, although I tried!
