The Supra Files.... Gettin' Laid

Well, the carpet, that is. The rear part of the floorpan was scrubbed and dried, and then the rear section of the new carpet was laid onto the floor to see how it fit, and how much would need trimming. It wasn't too hard to do, but it's a "Measure Three Times, Cut A Little Three Times" type of operation.

And you have to use the right tools. I started using a razor knife and X-Acto knife, but those are really for other uses. For $25, delivered, I  got a great pair of carpet shears, which making long, straight cuts very easy.

We started with the rear section, as it was smaller with fewer cuts. I wasn't trying to even get close to "Final Trim Size", as my cutting methods were crude. Kinda Stone Axes and Flint Knives crude.

Annnnnnd....because I left the carpet in it's shipping box for like, oh...Twelve Years, it was pretty lumpy and had some creases I had to work out with a heat gun, and then re-form the molded in contours. Tedious, but we managed to do it. I'm using "we", because Sweet Little Wife was helping me do this.

We were rolling along by this time, so I started scrubbing the front floor pans. Passenger side cleaned up beautifully, but (always one of those) when I moved some of insulation padding around to make the final free play adjustments on the pedals, I found this.

When I cleaned up the damaged paint from the leaking clutch master cylinder, I neglected to check the firewall on the other side, in the passenger compartment.
So that took a week to resolve. Ground it all down to bare steel with a flap wheel in my Dremel, then did a phosphate wash, and sealed it up with Eastwood's "Rust Converter". After several days of drying, I primed and painted it.

And then the two of us put the front section of carpet in, and began trimming.

Should look pretty nice with the rebuilt door cards, dashboard, and seats in it!
