It's been really windy since early morning here. We're seeing sustained winds of ~30MPH, with gusts up to 50 or so. The temperature has been ~60* most of the day so far, but geez....The Wind is just crazy.
I-25 is closed between Wellington and into Wyoming, along with Rtes 285 and 287, due to semis getting blown over. Looks like the tow trucks will be pretty busy today.
We haven't been hit by the winds yet. Lots of pictures of roads blocked by tumbleweeds going up on Facebook.
ReplyDeleteSeveral years ago heading East across Wyoming with a tailwind, my Lincoln Towncar got 31 MPG. Even better, for many miles I was the only vehicle on the road.
We have something that looks suspiciously like a tumbleweed wedged between the address marker and one of the little fence sections. Biggest one I've seen in town!...:-)
DeleteWOW! Semi Trucks on their sides! Seems like a good class A RV or two might be in the mix as well. Prayers for the travelers.
ReplyDeleteMy Lincoln Mark VIII never got mileage like that, ever. LOL!
Mostly just sunny and light breezes here in AZ today.
When we first moved here, SLW wondered why there were "Railroad Crossing Gates" alongside the highway, and what was all that fencing for? Well, honey, there's times they CLOSE the interstate, and the fences are called Snow Fences because they break the blowing snow up so it won't drift ten feet high across the road.
DeleteCapn Bob. The two Towncars I owned (and went 200,00+ miles) averaged 15-18 MPH over their lifetimes.
ReplyDeleteOnce you got them rolling along on the Interstate those big boats could get decent mileage.
