Took a Week, But I'm Feeling OK....

Thought I was feeling better, but then it smacked me again on it's way out the door...

ANYWHOO....work continues on numerous things. I'm making up an "Electrical Experiments Board" for grandson #!, although I'm sure his younger brother will enjoy it, too.

It will use one of the LiMH batteries from the small R/C trucks we have, and an assortment of switches, lights, bells, buzzers, and motors. Kind of like an "Electrical LEGO Set" that they can use to learn how to hook things together using wire and "Fahnestock Clips" for the connections.

And of course I'm rolling along on the Fisher RS-2010 receiver. The next post about it will be on the rebuild of the Power Amplifier Board. Had some bad diodes that threw all the voltages off, and clobbered a couple of transistors. Looks like another trip down "Substitution Lane" to see what modern parts are suitable.

    1. They both love coming in the workshop. I suppose to an 8 year old it looks pretty cool. Heck, I think it looks pretty cool!

  2. Haven't used a "Fahnestock Clip" in over 50 years. Last time was an electronics kit from Radio Shack.

  3. Very lucky grandkids indeed. I would have loved one growing up, I know that. :)
Glad to hear you are once again feeling better.
Be safe, stay warm and God bless.

  4. I was lucky enough that my Dad showed me how to build a crystal set when I was 8 years old. It paid off when I pursued electronics in both hobby and profession. Some of your Electrical Experiments just may rub off on the grandkids futures. Good show!

    1. No "Ohm's Law" or anything like that. I just want him to try and grasp the concepts, and see how things interact and interrelate. I'm sure the "Push the magnet through the coil and watch the meter" will catch his eye, but first we'll start with how a coil with current can move a compass, and pick things up!

  5. Many of my neighbors are getting sick, some to the point of hospitalization. So far I've dodged it, other than the short bout that I probably passed on to you.
I was in your fair city today hanging paper. Small city, big traffic. Then I had to pass through Windsor at 1720. Took 20 minutes to go five miles.

    1. That was just a head cold, though. This was the flu SLW brought back from SoCal the 7th of this month. Knocked me silly, it did!
Your little radio is sitting here awaiting the spreadsheet I'm making up to program it. I would NOT want to program more than a few channels in it using the front panel buttons.
