The Three Amigos Ride Again!

And what an ordeal getting these back in shape.

Now that the blower assembly has been rebuilt, it pushes so much air it's a bit hard to hold. I polished the commutator on the motor, replaced the brushes, and soaked the Oilite bearings in Light Machine Oil until they wouldn't absorb any more. Should really make a difference moving air through the car, along with ditching the crud encrusted evaporator core.

And my parts are back from powder coating. They look stunning! I was checking one of the parts when SLW came in to see them. She asked if they were some of the new parts I've been getting from Japan, then she looked closer and said they looked better than new.

These are the brake and clutch pedals and mounting brackets as they came out of the car.

And this is the brake pedal and bracket after powder coating.

Quite a nice improvement, and I didn't have to spend a week or more painting all the parts I took in.

And if anybody knows local insects, this little guy has taken up residence in one corner of the workbench. I got nailed by a spider several months ago, and it hurt. It must have been a little one, because I didn't feel it on my arm until it struck. Quite a surprise.

And Katy stopped by again to say hello....

Got started on the Halloween decorations, so I'll take some pix of that. With The Little Ones getting bigger, we've gotten a bit more elaborate.

Have a good upcoming weekend, and Keepth Thy Head Upon A Swivel!

    1. I'm REAL happy about how nice they look. The sandblasting not only takes the rust off, but also breaks all the sharp edges. And the pedals work as smooth as silk now that they're rebuilt and lubed.

  2. That wee little arachnoid is a jumping spider. Fairly harmless, not venomous. They actually are fun to play with. Good one to have around as it will actively chase bugs and kill them. What little webbing they produce is more 'jump line' and 'safety harness' than 'catch buggies while spider waits quietly.'

No need to kill him/her. He/She will be a good addition to your shop.

Now, if it was a brown recluse or black widow, yeah, flame flame on flame it or hit it with a hammer.

    1. "Jumping Spider" had popped into my mind as I watched him cavort about the bench. As a general rule, if it won't hurt me, I'll leave it be.

  3. My wife goes bonkers when she sees a spider. My daughter one time made a "flame thrower" from a can of hairspray and a lighter to take out a spider; it was fortunate that she did not catch the house on fire.

Me, I am careful around spiders. Wolf spiders, those big black and yellow garden spiders, and a few others don't bother me at all. When we moved into our current house we had this beautiful emerald green web spider on the back porch. But when I am rummage through old stuff, I am careful. I once found a brown recluse in a file cabinet draw that we rarely went through.

  4. I'm wary of spiders outside. I always check, and brush off, all the wood in the woodpile before I bring it in the house.

    1. Thanks! I knew it would be going down a rabbit hole to fix the HVAC, but I didn't know it was this deep....
