The Legacy of the American Racing Equipment "Torq-Thrust" Wheel

Americans were always my favorite "mag" wheel. I had them on my little Ford Capri, both of my Corvettes, my El Camino, my race cars, and both of my Trans Ams. Clean, functional, and lighter than steel wheels. They weren't as popular as Cragar S/S "mags", but seeing as I never cared much for chrome, they were right up my alley.

The Hagerty Driver's Club just posted an article here, so if you're into old mag wheels, give it a read.

  1. For my own vehicles I never cared, that is just me. Dressing up a vehicle for sale, that was a different story. I liked to put on all new tires and rims if the price was good. Always a new windshield if needed. Cheerfully paid a top detail shop $200. Obviously not every vehicle except for the windshield and tires.

    1. Did you guys ever swap wheels and tires between cars? My Pontiac buddies would a 4-door Mom Car traded in that her kid put Cragars on, and they'd have a GTO on the lot with Rally Wheels, so they'd swap. And ALL their used cars got new tires.

  2. It's cool that they still make them.
