I'm a member of the Celica Supra forum, and all the people there, who really are experts on these cars, say $3k was a very fair price considering what it does and doesn't need.

I considered a LOT of different cars before deciding on this one.

Miata, MR2, 240/260Z (WAY out of my price range!), 2.8 V-6 Ford Capri (I had a 1.6 in 1971. WATTA DOG!) , and many others.

Anything American that I was interested in (Javelin, AMX, Camaro, Firebird, Mustang, Barracuda) was 4 to 5 times what I was willing to pay, and they usually needed extensive work, or they cost even more.

A running, "restorable" 1965 Mustang is $6~8k out here, and I simply don't want to spend that kind of money, and then dump another $6~10k into the car.

Plus, I've been in love with the Mark-II Supra as soon as I saw one.

And if I decide to go for "More Power!", these's a HUGE variety of other Toyota engines that will drop right in, play nice with most of the existing electronics, and can easily be made smog legal out here in Kaliforniastan.
drjimhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05647484115197408897noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4901205574058136834.post-49598171651710978092014-01-02T07:04:05.291-08:002014-01-02T07:04:05.291-08:00That's going to be a fun project - I look forw...That's going to be a fun project - I look forward to your reports on the build-out. Back in the day I'd have been happy with a Celica GT, much less a Supra! I really liked 'em too - the interior room was far superior to their Z car competition.

Enjoy - that's gonna be one fun car to drive fast and look serious in!Jeffrohttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06873138122305060834noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4901205574058136834.post-52680467169944202842014-01-01T22:11:12.313-08:002014-01-01T22:11:12.313-08:00Well........

Quite a few being "Black Plate" original, California cars.

On the bright side it is in exceptionally original condition and most of what you listed are trim, clean up issues and not major mechanical problems so that is good!

Like my Daddy used to say, "That'll keep you out of the bars for a while".

Congratulations and don't forget to drive it like ya stole it on occasion as that is what they are for ultimately, FUN!
Happy New Year.
PhilPhilhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15695733883033137146noreply@blogger.com
