GROAN.......Round Trip To DIA This Morning

And the I-25 South wasn't pretty due to a 7 or 8 car accident on the I-25 Northbound side just North of Johnson's Corner. At first I wanted to say that the lookie-loos on the Southbound side slowed everything down, but really, a seven car accident involving the center divider takes up a lot of room. They were using the frontage road for emergency vehicle access, something I haven't seen since I lived in Illinois, and we had frontage roads alongside the Interstates.

Anyway....got past that minor irritation and it was smooth sailing in and out of DIA at 0900 this morning. Everything was cleaned up, and the crews were repairing things in the center divider on my way home.

And the weather was gorgeous! Mid to low 30's, clear as a bell, and not much wind.

  1. Lucky you weren't going tomorrow. I-25 lanes Southbound at Crossroads are being "realigned". This project has been going on for nearly three years and mismanaged for just as long.

    1. I wondered when they were going to begin finishing that mess up.

    2. The trip to pick her up Monday night was smooth sailing all the way there. Coming back there was an accident just north of Harmony, and we were lucky enough to get off at Harmony before we hit the traffic from the accident.

  2. it's still better than traffic in Cali, plus E470 speeds things up.

    1. Oh, yeah, WAY better!

I know you can get there from here without using the toll road, but to me, it's worth the $$.

    1. Well....that's part of the problem!

137 miles and 2-1/2~3 hours round trip, depending on traffic.....

  4. Glad you got in and back without harm.
I5 in N Calif used to be a couple of tractor trailers and a handful of cars, not any more, bumper to bumper all doing 80+.
The next house requirement for me is that I not be able to hear any traffic.

    1. We're smack dab in the middle of the one mile square grid of major streets here. It's a half-mile mile to any big street, and there are lots of trees in this area, so we're hoping we won't hear much traffic noise. Half the streets in here are "no outlet", and there are lots of cul-de-sac streets branching off the "no outlet" streets.

If you're driving through here, you're either lost, or headed to a specific house.

It's quiet, and we like that after 35 years of L.A./Long Beach street noise going on 24/7/365....

  5. Wish I was out there now, because today is my fourth day of mist, rain, and cold. Spring seems like it will never get to the North Georgia mountains.

    1. A little "cabin fever" maybe? I remember growing up in Northern Illinois, and March was the MOST dismal month....

I'm headed back down to DIA to pick her up in about an hour.

Keep it civil, please....

Gloomy, Gritty, Grey Day

At 1700 local it's as described in the headline; 30*F, 88% RH, completely overcast, snowing like crazy (small flakes, but lots of them)...
