Tinkering.....

I'm digging into the HTML code. I figure if they won't give me what I want, I'll just dig out my O'Reilly HTML book, read the code (Use The SOURCE, Luke!), and MAKE it do what I want!

I'm trying to get this set up so it nicely fills a 1280 x 1084 screen.

If it spills over on yours, or wraps around, or does anything that make it unreadable, PLEASE let me know.

Like I said, my HTML-foo hasn't been used in (quite!) a while, so I fully expect to get this looking real purdy on my 1920 x 1080 monitor, only to have it look like sh1t on other people's monitors.

Once I get the scaling and width correct, I'll try and do something about these rather lurid colors.

Please Stand By.........

  1. There is this odd extra column in the middle with nothing in it. This makes the page extra wide.

  2. Yep, that's the kind of stuff I'm trying to root out in the code.

I think I'll just copy the code, and open it with one of the web development suites I have on my Linux machine.

What I'd like to do is to keep the page the same "full" width, but stretch the "side" column and "body" column out so they meet, which would make them both wider, and eliminate the dead space between them.

  3. I'm on a 1920 x 1080 monitor too, so it looks peachy to me.

The only thing that spills over is that YouTube video on Prince Rupert's Drops. You can fix those by either adjusting the sizes manually in the HTML embed code, or you can select a smaller size to embed.

  4. Yeah, I spotted that right away.
I deleted it, and repasted the embed code from what I thought was a lower rez version, but it came out the same.

I'll dink around with it some more tonight after I get home from work.

  5. Yeah, look at the embed sizes, I use 650 Wide, 350 Tall for embeds on videos.

  6. Thanks, Jim!

I scaled it back, and now it looks like it fits on the page better.

Glad we're reeeeal slow at work these days!

Keep it civil, please....

Gloomy, Gritty, Grey Day

At 1700 local it's as described in the headline; 30*F, 88% RH, completely overcast, snowing like crazy (small flakes, but lots of them)...
